Lipostructure
Why ?
Lipostructure enables the curve of the orbit to be re-established in continuity with the cheekbone and to fill the ring.
Technique
Remodelling of the ring by the addition of fat is an extremely delicate technique which requires careful removal of fat and injection through very thin canulae specially reserved for the injection of rings (1 mm canulae). The fat is removed by liposuction with the aid of a micro-canula usually from the internal surface of the knee. The fat is then centrifuged, refined and deposited very gradually as miniscule particles, using a micro-canula.
What is it ?
Lipostructure is a technique which enables a face to be padded out by the transfer of the patient’s own fat from one site to another (micrografting of adipose tissue).
Results
While injections of fat (filling) have been carried out for many years with unreliable and uncertain results, with lipostructuring fat is not injected but actually micrografted (lipostructure) and the results are proven, reliable and permanent. The integration of this fatty input is so natural that it is often forgotten, hence the importance of pre-operative photographs. We now have sufficient records to assert that this integration of fat is long-lasting and permanent.
