Droplet fat grafting
Sunken eyes may be of genetic origin, related to the normal process of ageing, post-traumatic or secondary to an over-aggressive blephgive rise to a prematurely aged or tired appearance.
Why droplet fat grafting ?
This is the most suitable method for treating sunken eyes due to a loss of intra-orbital volume; this technique enables the volume to be restored exactly where necessary: i.e. within the orbital cavity.
What is droplet fat grafting ?
“Small pearl drop” size particles (4 to 5 mm in diameter) are taken from the abdomen around the navel and are grafted into the orbital cavity in the intra-orbital hollow; depending on the severity of the pre-operative orbital hollow, a variable number of fat droplets are grafted.
What does surgery involve ?
Fatty cells are first taken by means of a tiny hidden incision at the navel. The approach route is transconjunctival, the insertion of the droplets must be deep-seated behind the orbital septum.
Result
Numerous studies show that 70% to 90% of the volume implanted is still there six months after surgery.
